Counseling4Kids Gift of Hope project

Limited and unstable government assistance is not enough to ensure that foster children thrive and grow into healthy, productive adults with promising futures. Instead, the future of our foster children depends on the support of a community of individuals dedicated to providing safety and support to these vulnerable children.

We are seeing more of our foster children loosing their funding during treatment, as well as, after being reunified with their biological parents (a time when individual and family therapy is crucial to stabilize the family and increase the success of the reunification). In response to this recent increase in treatment disruption, Counseling4Kids is starting the Gift of Hope Project.  This is to ensure that treatment continues as needed regardless of the child’s funding status or reunification. This project will utilize private donations to provide a financial safety net for the child’s mental health treatment, ensuring that therapy continues until the child’s mental health goals are met. Your donations will help ensure treatment continuity for these children.  The average cost for a month of counseling, advocacy and parenting education to improve the life of a foster child and stabilize the family is $800. Our goal is to raise $100,000 for the Gift of Hope Project each year to ensure that our foster child’s treatment is successfully completed.

The Gift of Hope Project will provide treatment completion for:
• children who have reunified with their biological parents
• teens aging out of the foster care system
