Richard Burrell, Executive Director

Richard Burrell, joined Counseling4Kids in April, 2010.  Prior to joining Counseling4Kids , he was Executive Director for the YWCA of Glendale for seven years where their mission driven programs included providing treatment to victims of domestic violence and their children and also an outreach program which provided breast and cervical cancer screenings and health education to low-income women.  He has Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate degrees from Drake University.  His prior work experience includes private practice of law, corporate officer and executive with Emerson Electric Company, Purex Industries, and National Education Corporation and management consulting for non-profit and for profit organizations with the McConnell Group.

Marianne Callahan, Clinical Director

Marianne Callahan, Ph.D., MFT, has been with Counseling4Kids since 2004.  As Clinical Director she is responsible for overseeing the programs and administration of the Clinical Department, and ensuring that all of our child clients receive excellent mental health care.  Prior to her current position, Marianne was the Director of evidence-based Programs and a Clinical Manager.  She has been instrumental in the development of two evidence-based treatment programs at Counseling4Kids, the Trauma Treatment Program and the Parent-Child Interaction Therapy Program.  Marianne has a doctorate in Sociology and Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California, and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  Her prior work experience includes psychotherapy with children, adults and couples, as well as fundraising and development.  She spends weekend time cycling, skiing or windsurfing.

Kathleen Kim, M.S., MFT, Director of Quality Assurance and Evaluation

Kathleen Kim, M.S., MFT, is the Director of Quality Assurance and Evaluation.  Kathleen oversees the quality assurance and evaluation program by ensuring the agency’s compliance with current State, HIPAA and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health requirements and regulations for clinical services and clinical documentation.  She is responsible for initiating projects for sustained improvement, recommending and implementing policy changes, conducting program evaluation activities, and monitoring service delivery and client satisfaction.  Kathleen is a licensed marriage and family therapist; her prior experience includes non-profit mental health administration and psychotherapy for children, adolescents, families and adults.  Kathleen holds a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Community Outreach & Development Team

Rebekah Miller M.A., Community Liaison

Rebekah Miller has been with Counseling4Kids since July, 2010 as a Community Liaison. She is responsible for community outreach, event planning, marketing, and fundraising.  Her prior work experience includes working in several youth focused non-profits throughout Los Angele such as the Girl Scouts, and Job Corps.  She views the world through a sociological lens; as she earned both her B.A. and M.A. in the discipline of Sociology. In her free time she loves to play soccer with the L.A municipal League, and enjoys cooking for friends and family.

LaShanda Maze, Community Liaison

LaShanda is the newest member of the Counseling4Kids team.  She joined in the fall of 2011 as the Community Liaison working out of the Torrance location.  She is responsible for community outreach, event planning, marketing, and fundraising. LaShanda has spent the past six years in the nonprofit industry working primarily in development, fundraising and event planning.  Prior to joining the nonprofit sector she worked in the entertainment industry and received her Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communications at the University of La Verne.  A mother of two boys, LaShanda enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.
